Finally Got the Book!

Well I finally got the book and that is a major relief. Although, the mishap at Chapters was definitely scary!   I went up to the cashier at Chapter and told the person I had a book on hold. I gave them the receipt to show my order and he looks around for 5 minutes only to come back and say he could not find the book. I told him that I was told to come pick up the book from this Chapters and that they had it on hold for me. He tried looking again and finally found it. I was so relieved. I had drove all the way from St. Catharines to Etobicoke for that book and if he had not found it the second time I would have screamed!

Reading Schedule: Pg 1-82
                               Pg 83-163
                               Pg 164 243

I have yet to start reading the book but the cover says so much! Like they say a picture says a thousand words. Just the picture of two sisters hanging from a tree, 2 girls sitting on the grass doing each other's hair and two other girls shedding their clothes shows that although they are related they are all isolated as well it seems. It seems as if relationships will be tested! Can't wait to start reading!!

Just Started!

Friday, February 25th, 2011
So I finally decided what book I would like to read for the next couple of months! I have decided on reading The Virgin Suicides a 1993 debut novel by Jeffrey Eugenides. At first when our book choices were given to us, I was utterly confused because there were so many choices. So I just started at my computer screen looking at the book titles until one interested me. When I saw the title The Virgin Suicides I wanted to know right away what the book would be about. So I went on the Internet and looked at the plot summary. I have read many books but I have never read one that deals with suicides-especially four girls committing suicide. So I decided it would be a good change and I could see myself sticking with this book the entire way and not abandoning it half way. Another reason why I wanted to read the book was because Jeffrey Eugenides was writing a book for the first time. I have noticed that a first time author puts a lot more effort into a book that someone who has written a novel already because they are still trying to make a name for themselves.
It also helped that my one of my friends, Riona has already seen the movie and said that it was incredibly good and that is the reason she decided to read the book. The book has also won the Aga Khan Prize for Fiction Award. One major part I have chosen this book is that it is sold out everywhere! It is sold out in Niagara Falls, St.Catharines, Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga and Brampton. I finally found one copy that is in Etobicoke, which I have to go get this weekend. Just the fact that this book is sold out makes me want to read it even more because if it were not good then why would it be sold out?
Hopefully, this book would be a good read and I can keep going with it till the end of the semester! Best of luck to me!
